RETREATS

Iboga Retreats

Are you seeking profound healing from Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD? Our Iboga Retreat in Kenya offers a transformative path to recovery. Experience the potential of Iboga in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Our retreat offers a transformative and accessible introduction to spiritual exploration, grounded in the authentic practices of the Bwiti tradition and the healing properties of Iboga. You'll participate in medicine journeys guided by initiated Bwiti providers, a traditional African cleansing ceremony, and individualized goal-setting sessions. Guests enjoy a private space in a beautiful setting with chef-prepared, organic meals. The experience culminates in a fire ceremony, with ongoing support provided through shamanic counseling and integration guidance to foster deep introspection and lasting transformation.

Group Size

We focus on providing a deeply personal and impactful experience by working with small groups, typically limited to no more than six individuals per ceremony. This intimate environment ensures each participant receives the care and attention they need while fostering a strong sense of connection and mutual support within the group.

We thoughtfully assess each individual to determine their suitability for our retreats, seeking synergy that enhances the collective journey. To prioritize the well-being and readiness of all participants, we may kindly decline applicants if we believe they are not yet prepared for this profound spiritual work or if the group dynamic isn’t optimal. Our commitment is to create a safe, supportive, and cohesive environment, which is essential for facilitating deep, transformative experiences.

Preparations

How to Prepare Mentally & Physically

Intention Setting: Before the ceremony, take time to reflect on your intentions. Think about which aspects of your life are no longer serving you and what you wish to invite moving forward. Clear intentions can significantly enhance both your experience and the outcomes of the ceremony.

Dietary and Lifestyle Adjustments: Begin making changes at least one week prior to the ceremony by abstaining from alcohol and recreational drugs. Focus on nourishing your body with healthy foods to facilitate the purging process. This preparation phase is essential for clearing both your physical and energetic body.

Observing Toxic Habits: In the weeks leading up to the ceremony, you may notice unhealthy patterns becoming more pronounced. This is a natural part of the process, as these habits surface, ready to be addressed and released during the ceremony. Stay observant and open to recognizing these tendencies.

Communication with Facilitators: Share your observations and feelings with the Ngangas (facilitators). Open and honest communication enables them to better support you on your healing journey, paving the way for transformation.

The Day Of The Ceremony

Fasting: On the day of the ceremony, it is advised to stop eating after lunch. If possible, consider a full-day fast to further purify your system and enhance your readiness for the spiritual work ahead.

What To Bring

Clothing: Bring a red top and a white top, as these colors have significance in the ceremony and help align you with the energies being worked with.

Swimwear: Have swimwear ready for the spiritual purification shower, which is an essential part of the preparation and helps cleanse you energetically.

Offering to the Ancestors: Bring a small, meaningful item to offer to the ancestors. This gesture serves as a powerful way to connect with your spiritual lineage and honor the traditions that make this work possible.

Facilitators

Neil William Unsworth
Bwiti Name: Ngondet na Dipouma

Neil was exposed to the transformative power of nature and alternative healing from an early age. His connection to herbal remedies and concuxtions along side his passion for cooking and the natural world sparked an enduring passion in him for holistic medicine—a passion that would define his life's journey.

As Neil grew older, his commitment to natural healing deepened, especially after the heartbreaking loss of both of his parents to cancer and emphysema. These painful experiences reinforced his belief that nature holds the key to healing of all the ailments that conventional medicine struggles to address. Determined to find alternatives to pharmaceuticals, Neil began exploring various holistic health solutions, seeking remedies in the plants and practices of ancient traditions.

Throughout his life, Neil faced personal struggles, including a long battle with alcohol addiction. This journey, fraught with hardship, led him to Iboga which healed his past traumas and cured his addiction. This ignited a deep sense of purpose in him to help others overcome similar challenges. By combining spiritual guidance with the healing potential of plant medicine, Neil strives to provide a holistic approach to recovery and personal transformation.

Neil’s spiritual and physical practices are equally central to his healing work. Yoga and meditation are vital components of his daily routine, helping him cultivate a profound sense of inner peace, balance, and insight. Through these practices, Neil developed a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and an unwavering belief that every disease has a cure rooted in nature.

His quest for knowledge and healing led him to Gabon, where he completed the intense initiation into the Bwiti tradition. There, he encountered the sacred plant Iboga growing naturaly in sacrid forests. This amazing plant is known for its psychoactive and healing properties. The entire experience marked a significant milestone in his spiritual journey, further cementing his commitment to the plant medicine path.

Neil’s ultimate dream is to establish holistic healing centers, creating spaces where individuals can experience deep transformation, healing, and personal growth. Through his work, he seeks to empower people on their healing journeys, offering knowledge and support while fostering communities grounded in compassion, understanding, and the wisdom of nature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Readiness involves both a call from within and a certain level of mental, emotional, and physical stability. We recommend a consultation call to discuss your intentions, background, and any concerns you may have.

Certain medications, especially psychiatric drugs, can interfere with Iboga. Please disclose all medications during the consultation call so we can provide guidance.

Your safety is our top priority. The ceremony is conducted by experienced facilitators within a structured and supportive environment. However, Iboga is powerful, and the experience can be intense. We screen all participants for physical and mental health suitability.

This experience may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals who have a history of mental health issues, certain medical conditions, or who are taking certain medications may not be good candidates for iboga. It is important to disclose any relevant medical information to the Bwiti practitioners before participating in a retreat.

Participants are advised to follow a clean diet free from red meat, processed foods, and dairy at least one week prior to the ceremony. This aids in minimizing the body’s detox process and enhances your sensitivity to the medicine. The day of the ceremony, it’s recommended to fast after lunch to prepare your body for the evening’s work.

Post-ceremony feelings can vary widely among participants. Commonly reported sensations include a sense of clarity, emotional release, and spiritual awakening. Physical tiredness is also normal, as your body and mind have undergone intense work. It’s essential to allow yourself time to rest and integrate the experience.

Light, nutritious vegan meals are provided on the second day to support your recovery and integration process. We focus on foods that are easy to digest and supportive of the healing journey.

Activities are gentle and aimed at supporting your integration process. These may include nature walks, sound healing sessions, or participation in a spiritual purification shower. Participants are encouraged to engage at their comfort level.

Comfort is key. You are asked to bring a red top and a white top for the ceremonies, as these colors hold significant meaning in the Bwiti tradition. Additionally, swimwear is needed for the purification shower.

Openness and willingness to engage deeply with the process are crucial. Following the dietary guidelines, actively participating in discussions and activities, and being honest in your reflections can significantly enhance your journey.
